Spawned from the Fizik Terra X5 gravel and mountain bike shoe, the Terra Atlas is Fizik's newest and most versatile shoe. We liked the Terra X5 a lot, and Fizik tell us that despite the new name, this shoe is very much a new and improved version of the X5.

So here we have a cycling shoe suitable for gravel riding, mounting biking, perhaps a bikepacking and touring trip; even the odd cycle to work. The shoe runs a standard nylon sole (the Terra X5 had a carbon sole), its entirety covered with a rubber compound. The kind of shoe then that should provide grip and traction when walking, grovelling or hike-a-biking. The sole accepts a standard two-bolt cleat.

Fizik chose to give riders more room inside the shoe and whilst it won't satisfy those with wide feet, the Terra Atlas should be comfortable for most. The shoe closes with a single BOA dial.

  • Svelte enough to ride gravel. Built tough for XC or maybe a bit 'cross riding too
  • The standard nylon sole is rigid for riding but not over stiff for walking
  • Boa closure
  • A tread pattern that makes walking on any surface easy
  • The shoe upper has been 'laser perforated' for cooling on a hot day

  • Available here in army green or more stoic black
  • Two-bolt cleat pattern
  • Fits true to size so take your usual
  • Weight: 355g

  • To clean, wipe with a damp cloth
  • After riding in the rain, stuff shoes with newspaper. Don't place shoes near a direct heat source to dry
  • Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Check cleats are fastened to torque specification
